2015 Annual Toy Drive & Holiday Social Event

December 9

Biggest Event Ever!

Thanks to Century 21 Beggins & Discount Loans and all of Indian Rocks Beach Homeowners for putting on this Frozen theme holiday event!

Kids from Grace House & Shepards Village were driven to the event by limo courtesy of Discount Loans!  Children of all ages were able to come and sit on Santa’s lap and pick out their own toys & bike.   This year there were 110 bikes donated.  What a great city we all live in!!

Thank you all for those who were able to provide to those less fortunate!

2013 Annual Toy Drive & Christmas Social

December 11

Another GREAT evening hosted by Century 21 Beggins. Kathy Mackinnon always does a great job putting this event together!!

A BIG Thank you to everyone for your generous donations of toys and 64 bikes at our Holiday Toy drive, along with JAQX Eateries who donated the food and the Red Lion Pub who donated the beer. In addition to all the toys and bikes that were collected, J.D.’s Restaurant donated $765 from their Christmas Tree auction, which the Homeowner’s Association used to buy more toys. The Homeowners also bought $1000 of American Express cards to be used as gifts for older children. All the proceeds from the beer & wine, plus the tips JAQX received (which they donated), cash donations received during the evening and a silent art auction amounted to almost another $1000 in cash. It was all split between Grace House and The American Legion allowing them to buy additional gifts. Thank you everyone!

2012 Holiday Happy Hour & Toy Drive

December 12th

We saved the best Happy Hour, again! Century 21 Beggins did it again this year, opening their doors to us! The Red Lion donated the beer and the sea of toys we collected was nothing short of amazing. Beggins’ Kathy MacKinnon reeled in an entire room full of bicycles and helmets and the HOA provided $500 in Walmart gift certificates. This event made the holidays much brighter for children at Grace House, a shelter for homeless families and for the children of homeless veterans, coordinated by the American Legion/Madeira Beach. The local Beach Bee Newspaper had a very nice article about the evening, you can read it HERE.

2011 Holiday Happy Hour & Toy Drive

December 8th

This event put the “Happy” in “Happy Hour.” Thanks to our wonderful hosts at Century 21 Beggins and to the Red Lion for their donation of two kegs of beer, we were able to collect an unbelievable amount of toys to make many needy children smile. Jacque Enderle & Bob Mecca delivered the toys to Grace House and to the Homeless Emergency Project (HEP). Both organizations were so very appreciative for our donation. And, as usual, doing good things didn’t keep up us from having good time….

2010 December Happy Hour & Holiday Toy Drive
December 9th

Part of the fun of being an IRB Homeowners Association member is being able to give back to the community. The toys our members donated at December’s Happy Hour at Impressive Designs brought a big smile to the faces of some not-so-fortunate children this holiday season. In addition, our group donated $250 in Walmart gift cards to both Grace House and Help A Child. Pictured in the back row (left to right) HOA Vice President David Pearson, Board Members Krissie Lawson and Lisa Dawson, and President Becky Griffin. Front and center are Bob Mecca and Jacque Enderle, who again this year, volunteered their time to deliver our gifts to the kids.

2006 Toy Drive & Christmas Social

The Homeowners Association sponsored a Toy Drive & Christmas Social, Wednesday, December 20th at Chic-a-Si Park. Entertainment was provided by the barbershop quartet, Songfellows. Everyone was asked to bring an unwrapped toy and was given a free membership in the Homeowners Association. The response was wonderful. We had a great turnout, the weather was perfect and we collected hundreds of toys. Some of the toys were used for the remaining children on the Indian Rocks Beach City Angel Tree at City Hall, and the rest were distributed to Shirley Steele who works with the Rainbow Village just over the bridge.

Thank you to all who volunteered and participated, including The Visitor’s Center on Walsingham Rd., USA Grocers on Gulf Blvd. and The Island Surf Shop on Gulf Blvd. for collecting toys during the month of December. Thanks also to Thomas Leyman, President of the Indian Rocks Beach Volunteer Firemen’s Association and his 25 volunteers for donating a truck full of toys in their antique fire truck.
